Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Southern and Western Hemispheres and the tallest peak in the Americas. Due to its elevation, geographic features, and climatic conditions, it offers an ideal setting both for moderate challenges and for training for the most demanding sporting feats, such as summiting the eight-thousands’ and other peaks in the Himalayas. Nicknamed the “Colossus of America,” it is a sought-after destination for mountaineers from all over the world, attracting thousands of visitors each year who come either for the challenge or to admire the natural beauty. The experience begins when the guide picks up passengers from their respective hotels. We then head southwest along National Route 7 toward the town of Potrerillos. At this point, we can enjoy views of the majestic Cordón del Plata—the main water source for Mendoza—and the picturesque Potrerillos Dam, a crystal-clear reservoir surrounded by mountains. We continue along this beautiful road, taking in the stunning landscape, passing through tunnels and over bridges, until we reach the town of Uspallata. Here, we’ll make a strategic stop to get a better view of the valley as a whole. Back on the road, our next stop is Aconcagua Provincial Park. Upon arrival, we’ll obtain the necessary permits for a hike of approximately one hour. After returning to our vehicle, we’ll drive a few kilometers to the “Puente del Inca,” a must-see stop in the Argentine Andes, where we’ll learn about its unique history and enjoy impressive views of the natural bridge. At the end of the day, we begin our return to the city of Mendoza, taking with us unforgettable memories, landscapes, and experiences from Aconcagua and the majestic Andes Mountains.
